Meraki Studio Alcala

  • Hi there all you lovely Costa Women! I'm Annie Taylor, based in Alcala la Real, Jaen. A beautiful, friendly town surrounded by olive groves and topped with an impressive castle called 'La Mota'. It is possibly the best place on earth to live. I've been here for six and a half years and in just a week or so, am on the edge of launching an exciting new venture with a friend who is from this town, Angeli Rodriguez Garcia.

Our new space is called Meraki Studio Alcala and our website is at . It's a space for enjoying yoga, with Angeli, and art with me. Angeli offers a new technique called Bowspring - which can be applied to many different activities and sports, including Yoga. I will be doing many different types of creative activities with paints, stencils, stamping and also a form of drawing called Zentangle.

I've been doing this for the past 4 years and will hopefully be taking the official training course in the U.S. in summer next year. I have been demonstrating and promoting the technique and practice of this relaxing and fascinating type of drawing locally for the last year with a local women's association Some of the art that has been produced is amazing - you can see it on our Facebook page, including work of some of the children that joined us. Once I am fully certified as a Zentangle teacher, I can offer official classes anywhere. At the moment there are only 5 Certified Zentangle Teachers (CZT) in the whole of Spain, but the technique is so wonderful, that I am sure it won't belong before there will be more. However, I'd love to one of the very first here in Andalucia.

Our classes are in English and in Spanish - learning a new activity in a different language is a great help. Please have a look at our pages, give us a like - and DO get in contact if you'd be interested in attending any of our classes or special weekend workshops at any time in the future.

In addition, we can both travel -together or independently - if you wanted to host an event in your area. I am so excited and so keen to share what we are doing.

And why Meraki? Well, the word is from modern Greek and there is no direct mean to do something with love, with passion, with creativity and to leave a little of your soul in what you are doing. That, I feel, sums up our approach absolutely! Thank you for reading - and sharing!
