Is your business 51% Women owned and controlled by one or more Women?

  • Costa Women is all about collaboration, especially with other networks.  This week I have been speaking to the Executive Director for Europe of WEConnect International, Maggie Berry.

WEConnect International is a corporate-led non-profit and their goal is to connect more majority women owned businesses (those that are at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by one or more women) into the corporate supply chain. Their corporate members (including the likes of Accenture, Cisco, Coca-Cola, IBM, Royal Bank of Scotland) represent $700 billion in annual purchasing power. WEConnect are working to link up more women owned businesses to corporate procurement opportunities. More information can be found on their website:

If you have a product or service which offers procurement opportunities, you might like to register your business with WEConnect.

Self-Registration is open to businesses based in all countries with exception to the United States and Canada.

Self-Registration is currently free, there are zero fees associated with joining the network!

Registration can be done online here: - this will also ensure that going forward you will get visibility on procurement opportunities that could be relevant for your business.

Maggie has also provided a 10% discount to the WEConnect International Annual Conference 2013

    Conference website:

Their keynote speaker is Laura Tenison, Founder & MD of JoJo Maman Bébé who grew her business from £50,000 start-up capital to a forecast gross turnover this financial year of £43m. Everyone will have the chance to hear from three of WEConnect’s female business owners - Laura Haynes from appetite, Yvonne Foster from Lotus Human Resource and Denise Nurse from Halebury - they will be leading breakout sessions on 'Differentiating your Brand', 'People that Perform' and 'Collaborating for Success'.

The day will close with a 'Dragons’ Den’ style competition - a great chance for women business owners to pitch their business and be in with a chance to win a half day’s business consultancy with Accenture! If you would like to participate in the Dragon’s Den, please complete the application form which can be found online - the deadline for entries is 5pm on Friday 13th September 2013.

There will also be plenty of time for networking over lunch, at the coffee breaks and at the end of the day during the drinks reception.
